On Sunday, August 19 from 1 pm to 5pm, Jérôme is opening his photography studio on Bank Street in Old Ottawa South in support of ‘You and Me for Memories’. This local, grassroots organization is dedicated to raising money for Alzheimer’s research. Their partnership with the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Medicine means that any money raised stays right here, for local research and researchers. Alzheimer’s is a devastating disease. Every two minutes, someone in Canada is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. There is no cure. You can help. Drop by Jérôme Photography Studio at 1171 Bank Street on Sunday, August 19 from 1 pm to 5pm. View Jérôme’s project “Les Invisibles”, a photographic narrative of the elderly in a small French town and their struggles with time, relevance, and keeping up traditions. One of Jérôme’s most moving photos from the series is of an elderly couple. It’s exquisitely tender. You’re not sure of their story, but the affection between them is palpable. Jérôme has seized in that photo the essence of aging and how unkind it can be. The woman is obviously frail and perhaps failing from a disease like Alzheimer’s.

As Jérôme says, “I believe that art is part of our lives, it’s not a luxury, it’s something that we need.” We need photos like Jérôme’s to remind us of diseases like Alzheimer’s and the impact on families and relationships and the frailty of the human condition.

On Thursday, June 28th the Huntington Society of Canada, Ottawa Chapter, will be hosting Race for a Cure at the Rideau Carleton Raceway. Jérôme Photography is pleased to support this event, and we hope you will too. Jérôme Photography was delighted to attend Final Round Boxing’s annual Fight for the Cure as their official photographer. Pictured above is one of the principal organizers, Matt Whitteker, with headline match winner, Member of Parliament Justin Trudeau.

The sold out gala fundraiser made a significant contribution to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, an organization Jérôme Photography has been working with since October 2011.
